Interactive touch screens are in use by the people from around the world. People consider them as both input and output devices that have layers on an electronic visual display. With the multi touch gesture, users can keep a hold on the information processing system. Interactive touch screens also work with the help of a stylus or pen. Some touchscreens require you to wear coated gloves for proper working.

Users can view things on a touch screen. They can react to the things displayed on the screen. If there is a software that allows them to control what and how it displays, they can manipulate the displayed information. For example, zooming in and zooming out to change the size of the information. Instead of using a touch pad or a mouse, interactive touchscreens allow you to interact with the screen directly.

Uses of Interactive Touch Screens

Touch screens can attach to the networks and computers. They are usually used in devices like an electronic voting machine, personal computers, laptops, point of sale (POS) systems and game consoles. They are also useful in designing digital devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs) and E readers. Interactive Touch screens are also being in use in portable electronic devices tablets, smart phones, and other information appliances.

There are also various uses of touch screens in heavy industry, ATM machines, airports, museums, and medical fields where they are used to present data either in the form of visuals or texts. Keyboards and mouse cause hindrance in moments while giving work presentation, whereas interactive touch screens allow the user to move freely.

Touch Screen Technologies

Various touchscreen technologies have different methods of sensing external touch stimuli.

Resistive touch screens:

A resistive touchscreen surface comprises multiple thin layers. Two transparent layers are the most important ones because they are electrically resistant and have a narrow gap between them. The layer that you make contact with has a coating and under it is a resistive layer. Pressure applied on one layer is sensed by the underneath layer. Pressure connects the two layers together. These type of screens are widely used in hospitals, factories, and restaurants because they have the ability to resist contaminates and liquids.

Surface Acoustic Screens

They use ultrasonic waves. A part of the wave is absorbed, whenever you touch a screen surface. The controller detects the touch. They are quite sensitive to contaminants.

Capacitive Touch Screens

These screens have a surface made of glass insulators coated with a clear conductor like indium tin oxide. It is possible to measure the change in capacitance upon touching the screen. That is because the human body being an electrical conductor distorts its electrostatic field. You cannot use these screens with insulation gloves. Figures not always operate capacitive touch screens. You can use a stylus pen if you can afford it. Stylus pens also come free of cost with the cell phones. As they are resistant to external pressure, contact with the stylus will give a command to the touch screen. Then, it will start working, as you want it to work.
